HTML is a markup language which delivers content to web browsers. Web Browsers interpret the recieved files and translates them according to the HTML tags (which may be assisted by other programming languages) then composes pages of text, images, and other media content to computer users worldwide. The very beginning of the internet grew from the seeds that ARPANET. Advanced Research Projects Agency planted. In the early 1980s the NSF, National Science Foundation funded establishment of national supercomputer centers at several universities. About the same time Tim Berners-Lee working at CERN proposed and prototyped a system for scientist to share research documents. Later in the 1990 Berners-Lee & Robert Calliau collaborated. HTML was discussed upon the internet by Tim Berners-Lee in 1991. HTML is strongly influenced by SGML-guid Standard Generalized Markup Language.

IETF in 1994 created a work group which a year later competed the HTML 2.0(hyper text markup language) specification which became a standard. This group having completed it task retired September of 1996. Where upon the W3C pick up the gautlet and later proposed the HTML 3.2.

Thankfully, Due to the acceptance of standards differnet companies browsers can translate a web page for viewing and render similar results.

HTML symbol entities and extended ASCII allow us to display symbols which are not present on a normal keyboard.
